Because she’s mighty. And she’s tiny. And she’s mighty tiny.
Most days, I bring my Chihuahua, Yoda, to work with me. Her official job is to greet people usually with enthusiastic barks and tail wags. Many studies have shown that the presence of an animal in the room can reduce stress in measurable ways, including lowering blood pressure and heart rate. However, this is not true for everyone. If the presence of a small dog would create discomfort for you for any reason (including allergies or anxiety around dogs), let me know, and I will make sure that Yoda is "on break" (at home or in her crate) during our sessions. Like her namesake, she is a big spirit in a small package.
Little dog's Rhapsody in the night (Percy three) by Mary Oliver
he puts his cheek against mine
and make small, expressive sounds. And when I'm awake, or awake enough
he turns upside down, his forepaws in the air
and his eyes dark and fervent.
Tell me you love me, he says.
Tell me again.
Could there be a sweeter arrangement? Over and over
he gets to ask it.
I get to tell.
